CDC panel gives FluMist boost

delawareonline : "The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices on Wednesday called for expanded use of FluMist among children, widening its recommendation to include youngsters ages 2 to 5 years old who don't have a history of asthma or wheezing. The panel, whose recommendations are widely heeded by doctors, had already recommended the nasal spray vaccine, which contains a live but weakened strain of the flu virus, as a needle-free alternative for healthy children and adults from ages 5 to 49. This is great news for parents. It's much easier to use FluMist than it is to give a small child a vaccine. Heck, I'd rather it myself.
